From 22 o 29th May 2017, Mr. Arnaud Orelle and Shelley Brown, from the Viral Special Pathogens Branch – Diagnostics Lab from CDC - Atlanta, organized a practical training in the National Reference Center for Hemorrhagic Fevers in Muraz (Bobo Dioulasso, Burkina Faso) on molecular biology (Real-time PCR) and serology (ELISA), with the aim to implement Lassa Fever and Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) diagnostic capacities.

The mission was succesful and Burkina Faso and Centre Muraz (Centre Muraz) can now rely on these hemorrghagic fever diagnosis, using both PCR and Serology testing.

This project is part of the US-CDC Global Health Security Agenda (GHSA) initiative, aiming at helping countries and individuals improve laboratory networks, laboratory/epidemiology collaboration and contribute to updated IHR (2005) (IHR) implementation.

The project is funded by the African Society of Laboratory Medicine (ASLM) project in collaboration with Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
